London – Dishoom

For our last night in London met up with two of my English friends for a bit of pub/food crawl. Started at the Lamb & Flag for a few beers then made our way over to Dishoom, a very popular Indian place that doesn’t take reservations. After finding out the wait would be over an hour we went a few blocks away to Cafe des Amis for some appetizers and another round of drinks.

Made our way back to Dishoom and only had to wait a few minutes for a table. The food was properly spicy which was welcome considering I think American Indian restaurants are never spicy enough. I had no problem eating Indian food two out of our three nights in town.

LAMB BOTI KABAB: Pieces of tender lamb marinated with red chilli, garlic and ginger. A top-notch Bademiya-style classic

Garlic naan

KACCHI LAMB: Marinated lamb and rice cooked together in the traditional Hyderabadi style

BOMBAY COLADA: The classic pineapple and coconut-cream concoction with a Bombay twist: a little coriander, chai syrup, lime juice. And rum.
