Seattle – Food and Shit

Food and Shit is a monthly popup, for this last Winter meal they did it like a normal restaurant where you order a la carte and not prix fixe. There isn’t much Filipino food in Seattle so was glad to go to this for the first time. We got everything on the menu except one dessert. The mains basically all looked the same but had very different flavor profiles, the pork was my favorite. The poke was very fresh and made with huge chunks of tuna. The wings were also good enough to order two of them.

Subtropical Shrimp Salad: tamarind-marinated grilled shrimp, pomelo, mango, bonito flakes, friend pickled shallot, calamansi vinaigrette

Ahi Poke Brah!: ahi tuna, shoyu, sesame, sweet onion, scalion, Hawaiian ogo, singang puffed rice

Bagoong Fried Chicken: wings tossed in bagoong, calamansi & thai chili sauce, with green mango yogurt dipping sauce

Baboy: thrice-cooked pork belly, shoulder, ears, snout & chicken liver, red onion, ginger, calamansi ginger mayo, sous vide egg

Bangus: marinated milkfish, bell pepper, tmari, red onion, ginger, calamansi ginger mayo, sous vide egg

Tofu: tofu, oyster mushroom, mango bean puree, red onion, ginger, calamansi ginger mayo, sous vide egg

Balut: they gave away to seven lucky (or “luck?”) guests. I had never tried so of course raised my hand. The juice was great and the yolk almost like a normal egg. My buddy ate the fetus so can’t comment on that

Chera’s hood famous ube cheesecake: purple yam cheesecake, coconut butter biscuit, mango sauce
