Durham – Saltbox Seafood Joint

I needed an East Coast trip to hit status on Alaska Air and wanted to go somewhere that had a Wegman’s, the greatest grocery store. Didn’t realize they had expanded all the way down to North Carolina, I had originally been thinking of NYC, and the thought of three days of eating Southern Food and not freeze made it an easy choice.
My first stop after landing was a seafood joint that mostly uses a deep fryer to produce incredible lightly battered and very juicy fish and shellfish. I wish there had been a choice to order two types of fish and was torn between the flounder and grouper. I went with the former since generally don’t see that in Seattle at a fried fish joint. I liked how the hush puppies were small cylinders instead of larger balls, more crust to filling ratio. The tartar sauce was nice, it was the consistency of salad dressing rather than mayo and didn’t have an overpowering flavor.
